Customize Your Site
The look and feel of your site is sort of an extension of your personality and with WordPress, there are a number of ways to get the look and feel that you desire for yourself and viewers.
It’s really easy to give your site personality and life and with very little effort you can make your site as unique and individual as you are.
There are 3 videos on this page, that might be a lot for one page and I might turn this into 2 pages but if you can watch all 3 videos you will benefit from it.
Listed here and seen on the video are some of the ways that you can customize your site with your own personal touch.
One thing to remember is that each theme is a little different but from all that I have seen they’re very easy to figure out and work with and then there’s the fantastic support available if you need to ask any questions.
Choose Your Theme
The theme that you choose pretty much determines the all around look and design of your site.
Not only the look and design of your site but also they can add some new features like a unique layout on your landing or home page, interactive post sliders and a lot more.
Widgets and Menus
Making use of Widgets to customize your side bars and other areas that the chosen theme has for widgets. Also you can use Menus.
You can also custom navigate your site with drop down menus and a bunch of other stuff to direct your visitors to different areas of your site.
Upload a Header Image
Many of the themes on WordPress.com feature an option which allows users to upload their very own custom image header to obtain a much more personalized look and feel. The use of this option is completely free, and you do not need to purchase an upgrade in order to change your header—as long as you’re using one of the themes that include the option, of course.
If your theme supports Flexible Headers, you can skip cropping your header image so the image can be taller or shorter than the defined size of the theme. Some themes don’t support flexible headers but WordPress says that it’s working to have support for flexible headers for many more themes very soon.

If you were to decide to delete a header image, you can just go to Media– Library– and click on “Delete Permanently” underneath the image. To find themes that support custom headers visit the theme showcase and click on Find a Theme–Features, then click on the Custom Header box underneath the image.
You Can Set a Static Page
By default, the front page of your WordPress site will display the latest posts from your blog. You could if you desire, make a more traditional website by setting a Static Home Page.
- Create a Home page..on your site dashboard and click on add a new page and title your new page “Home.” Be sure to publish this page.
2. Click on the Customize tab and then click on the Static Front Page tab on the left of the screen.
3. Now click on the Static Page option, then choose your new Home page from the front page “drop down”. PIC
The preview window will display your newly selected page as the front page of your site.
Important–make sure that you always save your changes. One way that WordPress is great is because if you are about to switch pages or leave the site, a small window will pop up and ask if you really want to do that.
