Stop Scammers – 10 Things To Keep In Mind… — 10 Comments

  1. This is a great list of things to look out for to avoid being scammed. I have been lucky so far with the exception of some counterfeit products from Amazon and they took care of that for me.

  2. Unfortunately I have been scammed more than once, I have always had good luck getting my money back through PayPal though. Thanks for posting the tips here about how to avoid being scammed in the first place!

  3. I can’t believe the number of people that get scammed. Why in the world would you send money to someone you don’t know. I’ve always researched people and companies before I sent money.

    • It’s sad that it happens to so many people. What makes it even sadder is that people fall for these scams because they’re too naive or trusting. No wonder we’re all so jaded these days. Hopefully, they’ll find this article to help them avoid the nasties in this world.

  4. You have some good tips for avoiding being scammed here. I just ran into a new one (for me) on Craigslist where they wanted to send me a check to deposit and then they would arrange for a delivery service to pick-up the item. Not sure exactly what kind o scam they were running but it didn’t feel legitimate at all.

  5. I’ve made the mistake of jumping into a “limited opportunity” because it felt so rare. It wasn’t really a scam, but I wouldn’t have bought in had I thought about the purchase instead of falling for the hype.

    • I’ve made the exact same mistake, Ethan. I don’t always respond well to pressure (which is always present in scammer situations) and, like you said, I didn’t want to miss out on something great. I’ve learned my lesson though!

    • Now this is something I’ve done too. After this mistake, I always check things out 100% before I jump in. I call mistakes, learning adventures. It stinks that you fell for it too.

      • Have you ever tried getting your money back when they offer a money-back guarantee?
I think the feeling that there’s no risk involved plays a part in scams. I’ve always wondered if it’s easy to get your money back or next to impossible.

        • yes I have more than once for a number of things and I’ve always gotten my money back. There have been a couple of times that I had to contact my bank card and stop any debits from a merchant but as a precaution. The merchant will usually reimburse your money unless they can give a good reason why not to. You can always go to your bank card or contact PayPal if you want them to get involved. I like the offer at the bottom of the page, No Card Needed – 2 Free sites and 10 Lesson Course Free. Check that out!
